CARBON FIBER PREFORMS

The structural preforms made of composite material are primarily manufactured in hot drape forming facilities. The heating sources used in this technology are inefficient, as much of the heat emitted is transferred to the molds in which the preforming process takes place.

With the resistive heating process developed together with Tecnalia, the dry carbon fiber preforms of the parts produced through RTM and infusion processes are produced much more efficiently.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • Reduction of the carbon footprint by reducing energy consumption in the process by 80% and cycle time from 35 to 4 minutes (88%).
  • Extend the life of current equipment through partial retrofitting.
  • Versatile cell; using two heating technologies to produce components of different sizes made with both dry and wet fiber.
