PHOTONIC META-CONCRETE

Photokrete, startup originated from European Project Miracle and the Impulsa-T programme (CSIC), commercializes new formulations of self-cooling concrete by radiative processes.

By tuning the concrete formulation and additions, a cheap material shows radiative cooling property.

The proposed solution is advantageous and fully scalable. Photokrete, aims to contribute to the construction of near-zero energy buildings, but can work in fields such as photovoltaics and communication technologies.

improvement strategies

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • Remarkable savings in energy consumption for building cooling (depending on the climate zone, this can reach up to more than 70%).
  • Major impact on reducing CO2 emissions due to reduced use of air conditioning.
  • Combat the Urban Heat Island effect. In heat waves, the use of Photokrete allows urban temperature reductions of close to 10 ºC.
